The Past: Visit the Museu de Portimão, a converted 19th/20th century sardine and mackerel canning factory with its superb interactive recreation of the production lines and the daily working life in the sardine cannery during its heyday. The Present: taste the best canned and salted fish produced in Portimão directly at the factory and in local tabernas, paired with locally sourced wines.
The memory of the canning industry and the deep historical relationship with the River Arade and the Atlantic Ocean are the central themes of this first stop.
We tour the entire production area, where each process is explained in detail, always interacting with employees!
Divine petiscos in flavor and presentation, accompanied by a super attentive service where friendliness is always the main course
The Tour starts at 10:00 am and has a total duration of ~ 5 hours. In case of private groups we can adapt the time of the tour according to your preferences, but always in the time frame of 9 am to 5 pm.
The closest free parking area is just behind the Museum, in front of the Harbor.
The tasting and bites are mainly fish-based. In case you don't eat fish but want anyway to discover the fascinating word of Fish Canning, we can create a tailor-made experience just for you. Please get in touch in advance to get a personalized quote at firstname.lastname@example.org
